No Bad Parts
Healing Trauma & Restoring Wholeness with the Internal Family Systems Model
by Richard C. Schwartz
This is a clear, accessible introduction to the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS), an approach that many find helpful for inner healing and growth, including trauma survivors.
In IFS, you are taught how to enter into dialogue with your “parts.” These parts have different roles, and have often formed in response to a transformative experience or core wound. Acknowledging them and the weight they carry can be a first step in breaking harmful patterns and getting to know your true self.
No Bad Parts is a good place to start when learning about IFS, as it has clear explanations, sample sessions, and a series of practices or meditations that encourage you to meet a few of your parts and hear what they have to say.
(Format: The audiobook narrator is a bit dry, but it has two advantages over the print book:
Sample sessions are read by voice actors instead of being written out like a script.
The author guides the reader through some meditations in his own voice, and they’re lovely.)
