Trauma-informed editing
The beauty of your writing
Writing can be so personal, so vulnerable, that sharing it takes courage. As a professional trauma-informed editor, I approach each piece with care for the work itself and for the person behind it.
My approach
Editing with skill and sensitivity
Much of my editorial work involves trauma-laden material, including writing that engages with harm, loss, disaster, illness and disability, and identity. This requires more than technical editing: it calls for ethical judgment, attention to boundaries, and an approach that supports writer safety while respecting artistic intention.
I bring an eye for detail and an ear for rhythm to my editing, grounded in ongoing education and research. My role is to strengthen clarity, coherence, and craft, and at the same time, to listen carefully for voice, style, and emotional resonance.
Working together
Let’s begin
From my home in Lytton, British Columbia, I work with writers around the world whose work engages deeply with the human experience.

Trauma-informed editing services
Poetry & prose editing
Poetry
Poetry carries meaning in every word, line break, and image. I work with attention to language, rhythm, imagery, and structure, helping your poems become clearer and more cohesive while preserving the voice and intention at their heart.
Poem and manuscript assessment; line and copy editing; and proofreading.
Fiction & nonfiction
Every story has its own rhythm, voice, and purpose. I help fiction and creative nonfiction writers strengthen their manuscripts through thoughtful feedback, careful editing, and a deep respect for the work they’re creating.
Beta reading; manuscript assessment; developmental, stylistic, and copy editing; and proofreading.

“Working with you has been an absolute joy. Your generosity, professionalism, and respect for my writing style have made this process deeply rewarding. I feel so fortunate to have had you as my editor, and I would be thrilled to collaborate with you again in the future.
“Thank you for being such a meaningful part of this journey.”
“I wrote my book last year, in 2025. I had such a rough road behind and ahead of me. I knew I wanted to share it or publish it, but I was afraid to let people into my world. I thought maybe an editor would give me the confidence boost I needed. I opened google and scrolled past the big companies and advertisements. Meghan was like a light bulb on the page. A local artist with a passion, just like me.
Jaxon Makowecki, author of Bones Muscle Skin
-
“Meghan was so kind, dedicated, and generous. Her editing felt like a dear friend guiding my work. She treasured my story and gave open, honest feedback. It was an amazing connection and I am truly thankful for all her support.”
“When I was looking for an editor for my poetry collection, I knew it would be vital to find someone who both understood poetry and could approach my writing from a trauma-informed lens. I am so grateful I found Meghan.
-
“My poetry collection had already been reviewed by beta readers and my critique partner, but working with Meghan helped elevate and polish my work so it was ready for publication. I appreciated how she celebrated my work while also pointing out ways I could strengthen my writing (e.g. word choice, notes on rhythm, points of confusion, small errors). Her feedback was professional, thorough, actionable, supportive, and spot-on. I highly recommend her editing services.”
