Burning Sage
On June 30, 2021, the village of Lytton, my hometown, was destroyed by wildfire. Burning Sage tells about the fire and the year that followed—through shock and grief, motherhood and love—on the edge of a burned-up town.
The book traces my own deeply felt experience, and asks how life can possibly go on after disaster.

About me
I live with my young daughter on the edge of Lytton, BC, the village that was destroyed by wildfire a few years ago.
The fire left scars on our landscape and on our lives. For me, journeying through the grief has taught me the importance of telling our stories, the need for trauma-informed practices, and the beauty of this fragile thing called life.
